HEIJNINGEN – Op last van de rechtbank in Breda komt er aanvullend onderzoek naar het aantal vleermuizen dat sterft door windmolenpark Sabinadijk in het Noord-Brabantse Heijningen.

Deskundigen schatten dat elk jaar 59 gewone vleermuizen en 17 zogeheten ruige dwergvleermuizen zich te pletter vliegen tegen de wieken van de molens. De rechter oordeelt dat met die aantallen de Flora- en Faunawet wordt overtreden. Er moet daarom nader onderzoek komen naar maatregelen die de vleermuizensterfte doen afnemen. “Iedereen die zelfs maar per ongeluk een beschermd exemplaar doodt, overtreedt de wet. En als dat opzettelijk gebeurt, is het zelfs een misdrijf”, zo motiveerde de rechter het vonnis.

HEIJNINGEN – The court in Breda has ordered additional research into the number of bats being killed at the Sabinadijk wind energy facility in Heijningen, Noord-Brabant.

Experts estimate that each year 59 common bats and 17 so-called rough dwarf bats are killed when they fly among the blades of the windmills. The court ruled that with those numbers the Flora and Fauna Act is violated. We therefore need further investigation into measures that reduce bat mortality. “Anyone who even accidentally kills a protected individual is violating the law. And if it is deliberate, it is a crime”, thus motivating the court verdict.
