Overall Impacts

  • Minor to moderate construction impacts on employment pool and temporary housing stock
    • Degree of imported labor.
    • Depends on size/location of project.
    • Scheduled time of construction.
  • Permanent workforce small [~10 for 100-MW, 14-16 for 200-MW facility]
    • Majority (>50%) imported (minor population growth).
    • Salaries at or above State average.
  • Direct property tax benefits to state and county small relative to other energy resources or industries (depend on age of farm, etc).
    • Amount of tax revenues low on an enterprise basis.
    • Level of taxation high on a per job basis.
    • Depreciation affects current tax assessments.
  • May be present and future indirect impacts to property values and resource/environmental values.
    • Difficult to value.
    • Remediation costs.
